Switching Between Outlets

For businesses with multiple locations, Cockato lets staff and owners switch their active outlet context at any time — ensuring points, punches, and visits are attributed to the correct location.

Why Outlet Context Matters

Every transaction in Cockato is associated with a specific outlet. The active outlet determines:

  • Which outlet is recorded on customer visits
  • Where punch card transactions are attributed
  • Which outlet appears in the activity log
  • Location context for wallet pass proximity alerts

⚠️ Important: If you process a transaction without switching to the correct outlet first, the record will be assigned to the wrong location.

How to Switch Outlets

Staff Dashboard

  1. Open the Staff Dashboard
  2. Tap the outlet name shown at the top of the screen
  3. A dropdown will appear listing all outlets you are assigned to
  4. Select the outlet you are currently working at
  5. The page will refresh — all subsequent transactions use the selected outlet

Owners and admins see an Outlet Switcher in the sidebar. Clicking it opens a modal with all active outlets for the organization. Switching here affects the entire app session.

Outlet Assignment Rules

💡 Tip: If a staff member cannot see an outlet in the switcher, an admin needs to assign them to that outlet in Staff Management → Outlet Assignments.

Primary Outlet

Each staff member has a primary outlet — the location they are most commonly assigned to. The primary outlet is:

  • Pre-selected when they log into the Staff Dashboard
  • Used as the default when no manual switch has been made

Admins can update a staff member's primary outlet at any time from the Staff Management page.

Multi-Outlet Operator Workflow

For roving staff who cover multiple locations in a single day:

  1. Switch to Outlet A → process all transactions there
  2. Switch to Outlet B → process transactions at the new location
  3. The activity log will show each transaction against the correct outlet

Troubleshooting

The outlet I need is missing from the list:

  • Contact your organization admin to assign you to the outlet

Transactions are going to the wrong outlet:

  • Always verify the active outlet in the top bar before scanning

Outlet is not showing in the switcher at all:

  • The outlet may be deactivated — admins can reactivate it in Outlet Management
