Managing Referral Links
Referral links are the primary tool for channel partners to attract new Cockato customers. Each link is tracked independently for performance measurement.
Creating a Referral Link
- Go to Referral Links in the partner dashboard.
- Click Create New Link.
- Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Instagram Bio Link" or "Coffee Shop Network").
- A unique referral code is generated automatically.
- Copy the link and share it.
Link Structure
Each referral link contains your unique partner code:
https://cockato.com/register?ref=YOUR_CODE&link=LINK_CODE
When someone clicks the link:
- The click is recorded with timestamp.
- The visitor is directed to the Cockato signup page.
- Your partner attribution is embedded in the signup flow.
- Attribution persists through the signup and subscription process.
Tracking Performance
Each link shows real-time metrics:
| Metric | Description | What It Means |
|---|---|---|
| Clicks | Total link clicks | Interest/reach of your campaign |
| Signups | Clicks → account creation | Conversion quality |
| Conversions | Signups → paid subscription | Revenue-generating referrals |
| Status | Active or expired | Whether the link is accepting clicks |
Conversion Funnel
Clicks → Signups → Paid Subscription → Commission
100 25 10 💰
A healthy funnel converts 20-30% of clicks to signups and 30-50% of signups to paid plans.
Managing Links
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Activate/Deactivate | Toggle links on or off without deleting |
| Set Expiry | Optional expiration date for time-limited campaigns |
| Multiple Links | Create unlimited links for different campaigns |
| Rename | Update the link name anytime |
💡 Tip: Create separate links for each marketing channel so you can compare performance. For example: "LinkedIn Posts", "Email Newsletter", "Conference Handout".
Best Practices for Sharing
Digital Channels
| Channel | Strategy |
|---|---|
| Social Media | Add to bio, include in relevant posts |
| Feature in newsletters, direct outreach | |
| Website | "Recommended by" section or partner page |
| Blog | Include in relevant content about loyalty programs |
Offline Channels
| Channel | Strategy |
|---|---|
| Events | Generate QR code from your referral link |
| Business Cards | Print a short URL or QR code |
| Presentations | Include link in slide decks |
| Networking | Share verbally with the short code |
💡 Tip: Name your links descriptively so you can easily identify which marketing channel performs best. Review link performance weekly to optimize your strategy.
Link Analytics Dashboard
The partner dashboard provides an overview of all your referral activity:
- Total clicks across all links
- Top performing links by conversion rate
- Recent activity timeline
- Revenue generated from referral commissions
Troubleshooting
Link shows 0 clicks but I shared it?
- Verify you copied the full URL including the referral code
- Check that the link is set to "Active"
- Note that clicks from the same IP within 24 hours may be deduplicated
Signup didn't attribute to my link?
- The visitor must use your link to reach the signup page
- If they navigate away and return directly, attribution may be lost
- Contact support if you believe an attribution was missed
