Configuring Welcome Offers

Welcome offers incentivize new customers to sign up for your loyalty program. When enabled, every new customer automatically receives a special offer upon registration — driving faster first visits and higher enrollment rates.

Enabling Welcome Offers

  1. Navigate to Rewards Settings from the sidebar
  2. Click the Welcome Offer tab
  3. Toggle Welcome Offer Enabled to on
  4. Select your offer type and configure the details
  5. Click Save

Welcome Offer Types

Choose the offer type that best fits your business:

Instant vs Redeemable Offers

  • Bonus Points & Punch Stamps are applied instantly — the customer sees the value immediately in their wallet pass
  • Discount & Free Item require staff redemption — the customer presents the offer at checkout and staff marks it as redeemed

💡 Tip: Instant offers (bonus points, punch stamps) have higher perceived value because customers see the benefit immediately on their pass.

How It Works for Customers

When a customer signs up:

  1. The welcome offer is automatically applied to their account
  2. Instant offers: Points or stamps appear immediately on their wallet pass
  3. Redeemable offers: The offer details appear on their pass and customer portal
  4. Staff can view and redeem the offer from the checkout dashboard
  5. Once redeemed, the offer is marked as used

Staff Redemption Flow

For discount and free item offers:

  1. Customer visits and presents their wallet pass or gives their name/email
  2. Staff opens the customer's profile in the checkout dashboard
  3. The welcome offer appears with a Redeem button
  4. Staff clicks Redeem to mark the offer as used
  5. The customer's pass updates to show the offer has been claimed

Expiry and Urgency

Setting an expiry creates urgency and drives faster first visits:

  • 7 days — High urgency, ideal for food and beverage
  • 14 days — Moderate urgency, good for retail
  • 30 days — Low urgency, suitable for services
  • No expiry — Unlimited, but may reduce urgency to visit

💡 Tip: Welcome offers with a 7–14 day expiry drive 3× faster first visits compared to offers with no expiry.

Tracking Performance

Monitor welcome offer effectiveness from two places:

  • Customer Management — Each customer's detail view shows their welcome offer status (applied, redeemed, or expired)
  • Activity Log — All welcome offer applications and redemptions are logged

Re-applying Welcome Offers

Staff can manually re-apply a welcome offer to a customer from their detail view. This is useful for:

  • Customers who missed the expiry window
  • Correcting an accidental early redemption
  • Special customer service situations

FAQ

Can I change the welcome offer after customers have already signed up? Yes, but changes only affect new signups. Existing offers remain as originally configured.

What if a customer signs up but never redeems? The offer stays on their account. If an expiry is set, it automatically expires and is no longer shown on their pass.

Can a customer receive the welcome offer twice? Not automatically. Staff can manually re-apply it if needed.
